Film Review: Fear(s) of the Dark (2008)

Parts creepy and philosophical, this French anthology into the darker realms of the imagination is aesthetically pleasing and absorbing.

The Low Down:

Written and directed by several illustrators and graphic designers, an initial segment is intertwined between five others. Each is an independent story about fear.

Run Time: 1:22 Minutes
Directors: Blutch, Charles Burns, Marie Caillou, Pierre di Sciullo, Lorenzo Mattotti, and Richard McGuire

The Scooby:

The anthology fails in its choice of style over substance. Where the visuals are outstanding and the animations feel alive, stories stumble across gimmicky trajectories. Fortunately, it holds well. Each segment providing a different animated style, and a different brand of ‘creepy’.
